It will not be a quiet, secret event, but the glorious, victorious consummation of all the work that Jesus has done and is doing for us as High Priest in heaven now. Revelation 14:14 adds some more details, ‘And I looked and behold a white cloud and upon the cloud sat One like unto the Son of man having on His head a golden crown and in His hand a sharp sickle.’ Matthew 24:30 ‘They shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with great
glory.’ Matthew 25:31 speaks of the angels that will come with Him. ‘When the Son of man shall come in His glory and the holy angels with Him, then shall He sit upon the throne of His glory.’ |
He will not be a priest then, but our King. Mark records that at this time ‘shall He send His angels and shall gather together His elect from the four winds.’ Those angels will come to do a personal work for Jesus, to gather those who are resurrected and also those loyal ones who are on the earth, alive and waiting for Jesus to come. Jesus will not set foot onto the earth at this time. This is important to note, to avoid deception. Jesus warned that false christs would come and He told us not to go to see them. We shall be informed that these false christs will be in rooms of buildings, or they will be in the wild places of the earth. |
When we meet Jesus, it will be in the air, in the clouds. Paul tells us in 1 Thessalonians 4:7 that after the dead in Christ have been raised, ‘then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.’ Jesus will take us to Himself in the sky. We shall not meet with Him on the earth. The false christs will be on the earth.
This is the long-awaited time when the dead in Christ will be restored to us. They will not have met Jesus before either. We shall meet Him together. We shall all see Him at the same time and together. Our joy will be to be united once again and to meet Jesus all at the same time. What an experience to share! Babies, children, parents, husbands, wives, grandparents, and friends – this experience will be one of intense rejoicing and re-union as we see one another again, in the presence of Jesus, and also see His joy at meeting us all face to face. ‘He shall see the travail of His soul and be satisfied.’ Isaiah 53:11. |

His life and death, His invitations and His promises, will not have been in vain. He will have a rich harvest of redeemed ones to take home to the mansions that He has specially prepared for this very occasion. 1 Corinthians 2.9 ‘But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.’ God has prepared for you and your loved ones things that will delight the heart, and that are more than could be ever dreamed of. God knows us all very well! If only we will get to know Him better and follow His leading ...
3. ‘Till my change come.’
What does this part of the verse mean? Paul gives the explanation in 1 Corinthians 15: 50 ‘Behold I show you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed. |
 |
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump, for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead in Christ shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in Victory. O death, where is thy sting, O, grave, where is thy victory?’ This is saying that, in a blink of the eye, the dead will be changed and we that are living on the earth when He comes and are loyal to Him, will be changed too. We shall all be changed. |
