will make wicked people run to the rocks and the mountains crying to be hidden from it, Some of that brightness will be from the millions of angels He brings with Him. It will not be a quiet coming. All the angels of heaven will be there. If the ones that Ezekiel saw sounded like a mighty rushing waterfall, what will it be like when all the millions of them are flying together toward the earth?
Matthew 25.31 When the Son of man shall come in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then shall He sit upon the throne of His glory.
Are the angels the spirits of those who have died? No. |
The angels were created before our world was made for they saw its creation and sang for its beauty. God said to Job when Job had challenged God - |
Job 38.4-7. Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if thou hast understanding. Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? Or who hath stretched the line upon it? Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? Or who laid the corner stone thereof; when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Angels are spirit beings. They have abilities that we do not, but they are nonetheless created beings, and can be destroyed. They are not those who have died, for they were living before we were made. They are not immortal in spite of their great power and glory. They rely on God just as we have to. Jesus warned us, |
Matthew 25.41 Then shall He say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from Me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.
|
That fire will mean total extinction for sinners and evil angels. |
Revelation 20:10, 14 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone. This is the second death.
|
The devil is an evil angel. |
To be a spirit does not mean to be innately immortal. Those that die do not become angels as angels were in existence before the first death in the world, the death of Abel. The life of all is a gift from God, ‘who alone hath immortality’ and although angels are a different order of being in God’s creation, greater than us, they still rely on God for their life. They are His messengers to do His bidding. They serve God and are, as the Bible says, His ministers.
Their main work for us is in helping to protect and encourage those who have chosen to serve God on earth. They closed the mouths of the lions in the den to protect Daniel. They helped Peter out of prison and even prompted him in his stupor to put on his clothes in the right order before going out into the cold night. They came and strengthened Christ after His time of temptation in the wilderness, and they will give us strength when we need it too.
If we put our trust in God before the final events come to this world, and the plagues (Revelation 16) are falling, the faithful ones have this promise of angel protection. |
Psalm 91:10,11. There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For He shall give His angels charge over thee to keep thee in all thy ways.
|
God also gives a warning to those who are still believing a mixed religion – the Bible mixed with Greek philosophy, which originated with Satan. (Read all of the warning in Revelation 18: 1-4.) |
Revelation 18:4. Come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and receive not of her plagues.
|
Who then, are the angels that are sometimes seen by those who have had occult experiences?
If we dabble in the occult and the esoteric, or become in activities which lead to altered states of consciousness, we are opening our mind to the possibility of a demonic encounter. This can include New Age type music, or virtual reality entertainment. If the person is an atheist it has been noted that he/she will see or be shown, extra-terrestrial beings. If one is a Christian the result is not infrequently |
